Regional and National Security Threats of Scam Centres and Offshore Online Gambling Operations
Today, the Stratbase Institute, in partnership with the United States Institute of Peace, hosted the forum entitled “Regional and National Security Threats of Scam Centres and Offshore Online Gambling Operations” at Makati Shangri-La.
The conference sought to foster insightful and productive discussions among policymakers, law enforcement officials, academics, members of the diplomatic community, and representatives from civil society organizations to effectively address the POGO dilemma in the Philippines, as well as the broader regional crisis related to online scamming.
In his speech, Stratbase Institute President Victor Andres “Dindo” Manhit stated that POGOs reveal very deep and alarming issues that must be addressed right now before they can do more harm. He emphasized the need to take bold action to build a Philippines that is free from the scourge of POGOs.
