PH Navy, National Museum, ink MoU on preservation of maritime history

NAVAL STATION JOSE ANDRADA, Manila – The Philippine Navy, headed by the Flag Officer In Command, Vice Admiral Jose Ma Ambrosio Q Ezpeleta, officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Museum of the Philippines (NMP) in a ceremony conducted on February 18, 2025 at the Navy Headquarters, Manila. 

The partnership between the PN and the NMP is designed to promote joint efforts in advancing maritime archaeology and marine sciences through collaborative research and training initiatives.

“We know that we can do our part to help strengthen our Philippine Navy and really promote the importance of our Navy and its heritage to our people, our friends, partners, and allies around the world,” said Mr. Jeremy Barnes, Director-General of the National Museum of the Philippines as he expressed his enthusiasm for the PN-NMP partnership. 

The MoU Signing also opens up opportunities for the PN to enhance its expertise in preserving historical naval sites and artifacts, as well as maritime and underwater archaeological locations.

“I extend my deepest gratitude to the National Museum of the Philippines for the shared commitment to advancing our nation’s maritime interests and aspirations,” Vice Admiral Ezpeleta expressed.
