Cascading of AFP Communication Plan "MULAT" to Strengthen West Philippine Sea Narrative
January 17, 2025 – Camp General Servillano A. Aquino, Tarlac City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), through the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Civil-Military Operations, J7 cascade its comprehensive communication plan, "MULAT," aimed at strengthening the Philippines' narrative on the West Philippine Sea (WPS).
The event took place at Camp Aquino, and was attended by 86 key AFP personnel representing various units from Northern Luzon Command Joint Operational Area. The primary objective of cascading "MULAT" to all Unified Commands and the Joint Task Force-NCR is to ensure a consistent and unified approach in disseminating factual information and reinforcing national awareness regarding the WPS issue. By operationalizing the communication plan across all AFP units, the organization aims to foster a deeper understanding and commitment to the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Brigadier General EDGAR C. TORRES PAF headed the OJ7 Party, while Colonel JO-AR A HERRERA PA (MNSA) served as the lecturer, providing valuable insights into the strategic framework of the communication plan and emphasizing the importance of a synchronized and proactive approach in addressing information challenges related to the WPS.
"The cascading of the MULAT communication plan is a crucial step in our efforts to present a unified and credible narrative that reflects our national interests in the West Philippine Sea. Through collaboration and strategic messaging, we aim to combat disinformation and foster greater public awareness and support," said Col Herrera.
The AFP remains committed to its role as the protector of the nation's sovereignty and continues to adapt its strategies to address evolving challenges in the information domain. The successful cascading of "MULAT" is expected to empower AFP units with the necessary tools and guidance to effectively communicate the country's position on the WPS.
