Army to launch wartime scenario training exercise

FORT BONIFACIO, Taguig City – Army Chief Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido emphasized the importance of the Combined Arms Training Exercise (CATEX) in bolstering the Army's shift to external security operations during his visit to the 702nd Infantry Brigade headquarters at Camp Tito Abat, Manaoag, Pangasinan on February 14, 2025.

“I emphasized training, especially this coming CATEX Katihan, because it is only through training that we gauge and improve our capability to perform our mission,” the Army Chief said during the “Talk to Troops."

The Army Chief likewise emphasized the importance of team work in attaining unit and organizational mission. “We do not work individually but we work as a team. We have our own tasks. If you do your task properly and our partner does his task properly, then we will accomplish the mission easily,” Lt. Gen. Galido remarked.

It can be noted that various unit trainings involving different warfighting functions will be integrated into the upcoming second iteration of CATEX Katihan next month. The said exercise, which is the highlight of the upcoming Army’s 128th founding anniversary, paves way for the Philippine Army’s preparation and participation in Salaknib-Balikatan (SABAK) Exercises and Joint Pacific Multinational Readiness Center-Exportable (JPMRC-X) Exercise with the U.S. Army Pacific.
