5th Infantry Division hosts "Talakayan ni Juana," focusing on the importance of the West Philippine Sea

CAMP MELCHOR F. DELA CRUZ, Upi, Gamu, Isabela — The 5th Infantry Division held "Talakayan ni Juana", an open discussion highlighting the significance of the West Philippine Sea and the vital role of women in its protection on March 14, 2025 at 5ID Tala Hall.

The event was part of the division's Women's Month activities, aimed at raising awareness and empowering women to take an active role in national issues.

The discussion featured distinguished female officers and enlisted personnel, along with Atty. Marybelle Mariñas, Vice President for Field of GSP Benguet Council who explained the laws that affirm the Philippines' rights over the West Philippine Sea.

Atty. Mariñas provided valuable insights on the strategic and economic importance of the West Philippine Sea, underscoring the essential contribution of women in safeguarding the country’s maritime interests.

Members of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) served as the primary audience, engaging actively in the discussion and gaining a deeper understanding of the critical role women play in upholding national sovereignty and security.

This initiative reflects the 5th Infantry Division's commitment to promoting gender equality and empowering women to be key players in protecting the nation's resources and securing its future.
